My story
I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and started my photography journey midway through high school. My parents had purchased a Canon camera for a family trip to Europe and then it was often used to take pictures of me showing my horses in 4H. A few of my closest friends were a year older than me in school and when it came time for them to need senior photos they said "Kellie, you have a nice camera, you should just take them!" I had absolutely NO idea what I was doing but I was up for the challenge. We went down to the river and had our own little photoshoot and when I got back home and uploaded them to my computer I thought to myself "wow those aren't half bad" and from that moment on I was HOOKED. I began to practice constantly and take as many pictures of my friends as possible. Eventually people began asking me to do little shoots for them and I really was loving it. By the time I graduated High School I was charging small amounts of money and slowly turning it into a business. A year later in 2018, I packed up all my belongings and began the biggest journey of my life, a 2,000 mile move to Texas. Moving to new state full of people I didn't know set off some major insecurities I had about my photography and I ended up setting it almost completely down for close to two years. Eventually I made lots of friends and became established down here and realized just how much I missed my photography. In 2020 I decided it was time to get back on the grind and put my passion to work and quit letting my insecurities rob me of my dreams. Towards the end of 2020 I quit my very time demanding job of working for a horse trainer and told myself it was time to pursue my own career goals. It was a massive leap of faith to leave my "real job" but God has been blessing me beyond measure ever since! I am more passionate about my work then ever and so excited to be continuing my career journey. I hope my story will inspire you to live out your dreams and take those steps out of your comfort zone to really chase what brings you joy!
